30 x 40 in. | Wedding Painting from Photos
I {Jen} first met Caroline when she was shopping for her gown at the local Modern Trousseau flagship in Charleston. At the time, I was managing the bridal showroom and Wed on Canvas was still very young. We created a custom French Alencon lace gown with a gorgeous keyhole back for Caroline … it was perfect! Fast forward about six months, when Caroline’s best friend Elle shopped at Modern Trousseau and found her own lovely wedding gown! Long story short, Elle’s mother surprised Elle with a live wedding painting by Ben. (See Elle’s finished painting and read the full story here!) It was at Elle’s wedding that Ben and I saw Caroline and finally met her husband Ray. (Working in a bridal shop, you hardly ever get to meet the groom as they are usually forbidden from coming close to the bridal shop!) It was so fun connecting with Caroline and Ray and sharing with her the news that I was now collaborating, full time with Ben and Wed on Canvas. Caroline kept asking, “why didn’t I know about this for MY wedding!” (Caroline and Ray had been married almost a year at this point!) Needless to say, we were absolutely thrilled when we received an email from Ray inquiring about a wedding painting from photos! Ray wanted to gift a 30 x 40 in. painting to Caroline on their Anniversary! (What an incredible anniversary gift!) So Ben and Ray began exchanging photos and discussing the subject of the painting and all the details. Ben then combined several photos to re-create the moment of their first dance. It was an evening perfectly illuminated by edison bulbs, with a gorgeous historic Charleston porch in the background, dancing on a chic black and white dance floor … this first dance moment is almost iconic! You could feel the love of their family and friends around them, almost in a tangible way. It was an absolute honor and joy for Ben to create this painting for Ray and Caroline! We were so excited when Ray shared that she was completely speechless after being presented the gift of their Wed on Canvas painting. With each painting, we are again and again reminded of how special it is to celebrate each couple’s wedding day in the unique form of a painting!
