From Wedding Day To Their First Birthday: Growing Your Art Collection As Your Family Grows
We will never forget the day when one of our bride’s moms, sent an email asking if Ben created Children’s Portrait Paintings. Our hearts skipped a beat! We always talk about how your wedding day is the start of a new chapter, and for many of our couples, it’s the beginning of a whole new family story. It’s so incredibly special to create a live wedding painting and the icing on the cake is being able to create a children’s portrait for them, too!
Sydney’s mom loved Ben’s wedding painting so much that, as soon as the first baby arrived, she knew she wanted to mark that moment in art, too. For Christmas, she commissioned paintings of both her grandchildren, Ellary and Jace. (We’ll be sharing Jace’s adorable children’s portrait soon!) We loved that she gifted both daughter’s such a special gift of art!
So let’s rewind back to Sydney and Robey’s wedding day!
Sydney and Roby said “I Do” in North Carolina at Hotel Concord. Sydney saw Ben painting live at her best friend’s wedding and ask him to also paint for hers. The two chose to have a ceremony moment captured for their live wedding painting, surrounded by their family and friends. (And oh how Sydney’s wedding gown was a dream!) You can see more from their gorgeous wedding day on our blog here!
That baby portrait of Ellary now hangs proudly in their living room, right next to Sydney and Roby’s live wedding painting.
Fast forward to the arrival sweet baby Ellary. Sydney and Robey, like so many couples do, chose to have their wedding photographer capture their newborn session! Brookelyn Riley Photography photographed this sweet new chapter at their home as a family of three. And the best part, some of the photos of Sydney and Robey holding Ellary are right under their Live Wedding Painting!
Commissioning a Children’s Portrait Painting: How it works
Ben’s in studio Children’s Portrait Paintings always start with a photo! In this case, Sydney had one photo in mind that she felt was perfect for the painting! This photo captured by Brookelyn Riley Photography is like it was just made for a painting!
Once the photo is decided, we plan a Creative Call to talk through all the details of the painting. From Canvas Size to who and what are most important to include in the painting. Sometimes, Ben can reference other photos, too, if needed! Once the details are determined, Ben will get started painting!
When the painting is complete, we send a preview of the finished children’s portrait via email. From there, Ben offers a complimentary round of revision … if needed, that’s available! Once we hear the painting is perfect, at that stage, we will confirm the best shipping address.
Each Children’s Portrait Painting is delivered what we call “ready to style.” When you open the box, the painting is ready to hang on the wall! Ben paints around the edges of the canvas in a solid color and the best part so framing is completely optional!
Life’s Milestone Moments Make the Best Paintings
There’s something magical about watching your art collection grow alongside your family. It’s a visual reminder of how far you’ve come since the day you said, “I do”—from the floral-filled altar to the baby giggles. Needless to say, it was an absolute joy and honor for Ben to create Sydney and Robey’s Live Wedding Painting and their first baby portrait!
Ben is honored to be part of these milestones. Whether it’s a wedding, your first home, baby, or anything in between, your story is always worth painting. So, if you’re ready to add to your art collection, Ben would love to continue painting for you and your family!
We are so excited to share that Ben still has a limited number of portrait spots available for 2025, so if you’re thinking about commissioning a baby or family portrait, don’t wait too long to reach out! Send us an email here!
