After 300+ live wedding paintings, there’s only TWO so far that involves a snow storm. And this second snow storm came on our couples Christmas Tree Farm wedding day! Rebekah and Drew’s wedding weekend was quite the adventure, and one that I frequently share the story of to prospective couples thinking about a live painting.

We knew the snow was coming.

Prepping for every wedding day involves studying the weather for that location the week of the wedding. At the beginning of the week, we realized that the odds were pretty good that Rebekah and Drew would have a snowy wedding day. As the week continued, we realized it was looking more like an actual snow storm! To ensure there wouldn’t be travel delays with the weather, we sent Ben up to Cashiers, NC two days ahead of what turned out to be indeed, a snow storm!

It started snowing … and it didn’t stop!

Ben made it to the hotel and on his way to dinner, it started to snow. Here in Charleston, we hardly ever see snow making this feel like such a dream. Meanwhile, the Glenville and Cashiers area were starting to emergency prep for the snow storm. Ben found a local grocery store and stocked up on staples for his hotel … thinking that it might be a few days before the snow is cleared based on the snowfall predictions. And the snow just kept coming over those two days!

Never have we ever … had to get to a wedding with a snow mobile!

This scenario is actually the very reason that we always book hotels close to the wedding venue. And luckily, this hotel was also owned by the same family that owned the venue! We quickly realized that there was no way that Ben’s Honda Element would make it out of the parking lot. The venue owners graciously arranged to come pick up Ben … and to our surprise, in a snow mobile!

Let’s get married, snow or shine.

Sweet Rebekah and Drew seemed to roll with the quickly changing weather. They were just so excited to get married, snow or shine! Rebekah never imagined she would be walking down the aisle that was freshly covered in (a FOOT!) of snow! Needless to say, the snow was like the icing on the cake with the Christmas Tree Farm in the backdrop. And the BEST part of the ceremony: the guests through snowballs at Rebekah and Drew as they were recessing back down the aisle!

We are so excited to share Rebekah and Drew’s live wedding painting. We fought SO hard to make it to their wedding day … and are honestly proud that we were able to think ahead to make their live painting happen. Their wedding day and live wedding painting will be one of our forever favorites!
