Our first ever wedding in Delaware was Samantha and Dalton’s Winterthur Museum Wedding! This estate holds a breathtaking mansion (now museum) and surrounded by the most magical wild garden. The property is truly like something out of a storybook! Needless to say, Ben was incredibly excited they chose Ben to capture their wedding day with a live painting!
A Winterthur Museum Wedding First Look at the Reflection Pool
Samantha and Dalton chose the Reflection Pool as the backdrop for their Winterthur Museum Wedding painting! This was originally to be the location for their ceremony, however the rain changed those plans.
A live wedding painting was never meant to be a photo.
This painting is one of those moments that bring us back to why we love live wedding paintings so much! The truth is, this moment never happened in real time! It was raining just enough that Samantha and Dalton weren’t able to even walk down to this area for their portrait time. But that’s what makes this painting even more special to them! Though this moment didn’t happen in real time, this view and backdrop with the azaleas in full bloom, was the heart of why they chose this venue in the first place!

Samantha and Dalton’s rainy Winterthur Museum Wedding is exactly why we create a thorough Rain Plan during our planning time with each couple! We know how and if the subject of the painting will change if rain happens, and the original moment isn’t able to happen! Ben was able to maximize his time painting and because we have the plan in place, our couples can enjoy their wedding day without having to make any additional (sometimes emotional!) decisions the day of the wedding!
But the truth is … their Winterthur Museum wedding day was MAGICAL with the rain! Kyle Michelle Weddings designed and coordinated all the details and oh my heavens, was their day beautiful even with the rain! And Dolla Photography is proof that rainy day wedding photos can be so artful and bring an elevated, high fashion, vibe!
