Our creative process begins with intentional planning
The Live Wedding Painting Process:
We begin with the moment Ben will capture and talk through who and what details are most important to you to include. We care about even the littlest details like guest attire, rain plan, and even ask to see sneak peeks of your gown. Our planning allows for Ben to use his day-of painting time efficiently and focus on composing all the details to make a great live wedding painting.

The Creative Call:
Each live wedding painting starts with a plan. We plan a Creative Call one month before the event to walk through the key people and details to include in the painting.
Your Wedding Day:
Ben will arrive 2-3 hours early to set up and begin the painting live. As guests arrive, they see the beginning stages of the sketch and watch the painting come to life. The biggest crowd forms around the easel the moment Ben adds you into the painting!
Back to the Studio:
After the wedding, Ben brings the painting back to the studio for finishing touches. As an artist first, he values this time refining the detail in natural studio light. (And this is usually when he adds in the pups!)
Delivery:
The best part! We send a digital preview of your finished live wedding painting 8-10 weeks after the big day. Once we hear you love the finished piece, we arrange to have the painting shipped or coordinate local pickup.

- Can we book this as a gift on the couple's wedding day?
Yes! We work with families and friends that gift wedding paintings before and after the wedding day! Couples love having something to look forward to and plan after the big day! - How far in advance should we book a commission?
The sooner the better, especially if you plan to gift a painting for a milestone anniversary or specific date. Ben creates a limited number of in studio paintings, working around his current live wedding painting schedule.
- Can you work from iPhone photos?
Yes! Ben can work from iPhone photos taken the day of the wedding and/or from their professional wedding photography gallery. - Can you work from old, black and white photos?
Believe it or not ... YES! Ben has created wedding paintings (in full color!) from black and white photos! The physical photos can be scanned and sent by email to us.
- What medium does Ben paint in?
Ben uses acrylic paint for his live wedding paintings. They are fast drying, odorless, and so vibrant in color! - How is the painting shipped?
We use a local shipping company that specializes in packaging fine art for the premier Charleston art galleries. The paintings arrive to you "ready to style": stretched, wired, and ready to hang!
- Will we need to purchase a frame?
Framing is completely optional! The painting arrives "ready to style" with the canvas edges painted and the back properly wired. Ben does offer a selection of Canvas Floater Frames that are available to purchase anytime before delivery. - When will we decide the moment to be painted?
Before Ben begins a painting, we plan a Creative Call to talk through all the details for the painting. This will cover everything from the backdrop, key family and guests to highlight, etc..
