A sweet Southern Charleston Wedding Ceremony
Legare Waring House is a Charleston wedding venue tucked away under the Live Oaks, overlooking Ashley River. Located on the historic Charlestown Landing, this lush property is actually a State Park! As a Live Wedding Painter, Ben has had the opportunity to paint here many times over the years.
The southern home faces a grand Avenue of Oak trees that makes the most beautiful ceremony backdrop for weddings. Over the years, it’s obvious to see why all of our couple’s have chosen the ceremony landscape for their live wedding paintings. The truth is: Legare Waring House makes a great painting from every vantage point!
Though Ben has painted the Avenue of Oaks many times, we were so excited that Miranda and Caleb decided to switch it up! They chose to have Ben capture their first dance during their reception! It was important for Miranda to have the architecture of the Legare Waring House included in their live wedding painting.
Knowing they would have so many great photos of the ceremony, Miranda thought their first dance would be great opportunity to include their family and friends surrounded by this lovely southern scene.
The Perfect Wedding Gift: A surprise Live Wedding Painting
Planning the details for Miranda and Caleb’s was honestly just so, so special! Miranda’s sweet sister chose Ben to create a Live Wedding Painting as her wedding gift to Miranda and Caleb! Unveiling this incredible surprise during a Bridal shower, Miranda was moved to tears with joy and excitement!
And it’s the smallest world ever: Miranda and her family are from Farmville, NC … which is just down the road from Ayden, NC, where I (Jen) grew up! To make it an even SMALLER world: One of Miranda’s bridesmaids present at the shower had ALSO booked Ben to create a live wedding painting of her wedding! And they had no idea! We love these small town connections and how serendipitous that two best friends booked the same live wedding painter for their Charleston weddings!
A rainy wedding day at Legare Waring House
They say it’s good luck when it rains on your wedding day … and Miranda and Caleb received some of that good luck! During our planning, we always have a Rain Plan for each live wedding painting. Sometimes rain will change the location of the ceremony or mean that the reception is then tented. These changes could mean that the background changes and perhaps the couple want to consider a different subject for their live wedding painting.
Miranda decided that if it rained, she still wanted to have their first dance captured. But instead of including the tent over the dance floor and reception area, she wanted to have Ben remove the tent from the painting. For her and Caleb, including as much as the landscape, trees, and architecture were more important than the clear tent that would block the view.
We always say that the beauty of a live wedding painting is that Ben is able to bend reality a bit to capture the feeling of the day. We love that rain or shine, Miranda was able to have their live wedding painting include their first dance in front of the beautiful Legare Waring House!
If you’re considering a Charleston Live Wedding Painter, we would absolutely love to hear more about your wedding day and share details about Ben’s Live Paintings! You can check out more Charleston Wedding Venues here or send us an email here!
